In 2004, the City of Roslyn became owners of the over 300 acre Roslyn Urban Forest surrounding the community, forever protecting the forest for wildlife to thrive and people to enjoy.
Like Roslyn, the forest has a rich history that includes historic sites and old mining and logging routes. For many years now, the forest has sat in our backyards with little coordinated work done to develop a recreation and trails system.
The city’s Citizen Advisory Committee has been tasked with developing a Recreation and Trails Plan that is:
Non-motorized, sustainable, able to adapt to new information from monitoring and unforeseen circumstances, connected and integrated into the wildlife and recreation networks in the region, embraced by the City and the local citizen’s and users, provides educational opportunities for the community, and enhances the quality of life in Roslyn.
The purpose of this forum is to support the efforts of the City of Roslyn and its citizens, The Wilderness Society and the National Park Service to develop a Recreation and Trails Plan for the Roslyn Urban Forest.
