Geo-Showcase of the North Cascades: Wildlands and Recreational Assets of the Region

We have developed a customized visual representation of the wildlands and recreational assets of the North Cascades.  This tool allows us and our partners to explore the assets of the region and understand how current and future land use decisions will affect these assets.  This effort has been informed by our Geo-Showcase Advisory Committee.  We have four main goals for this tool:

  1. Displays the different personalities of the region as a whole, such as habitat, rivers, roadless areas, kayak routes, hiking trails and campgrounds
  2. Provides a base layer to inform the recreation and conservation visions of the Initiative
  3. Informs federal and local land use planning processes for conservation organizations, recreation organizations and  local communities
  4. Allows  local communities to see the benefits of wildlands and recreational assets on adjacent public lands and to understand the value of conservation efforts
